Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Murad Merican
Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Murad Merican is attached to the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies (CenPRIS), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Pulau Pinang. He is also an adjunct professor at the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA) in Kuala Lumpur. He has been around for more than 40 years – as a writer, academic and scholar. His first article appeared in the Penang Free School Fourth Form magazine in 1973, titled d’Flop. His first article in a national daily appeared in the Straits Echo in 1976.
He was a contributor/stringer to the national newspapers while a student in campus between 1978 and 1981. In the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis between 1983 to 1986, he was a contributor to the Minnesota Daily, the campus newspaper. His areas of interests are intellectual history, journalism and mass communication, and social science, He has published 10 books, the 11th is in the press (title: In Other Words). Apart from publishing articles for academic journals, he is also referee and editorial board member for five national and international journals.
Professor Ahmad Murad was the recipient of the Honorary President Resident Fellowship, Perdana Leadership Foundation 2009-2011. in his academic life, he has established a number of institutions in public universities, two of which are the Institute of Knowledge Advancement and the Institute of Journalism Studies in 2001 and 2005 respectivley. He sits on the panel of the Malaysian Journalism Awards and has been chairman of the Malaysian Journalism Laureate Awards. He also sits in national committees and panels pertaining to books and assessment of manuscripts, and language, reading and writing. He has been interviewed by the national and international media, including RTM, TV3, Astro Awani, Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, Dewan Masyarakat, Sin Chiew Yit Poh, China Press, Radio Singapura, Padang Ekspress (Padang), Harian Singgalang (Padang), BTTV (Bukittinggi, Sumatera Barat), TVRI (Padang), New Straits Times, The Star, The Sun, IRIB (Radio Televisyen Iran), IRNA dan Reuters.
Keeshhaanan Sundaresan
Hailing from Ipoh, Keesh is a self-professed football expert who has been spent the last eight years of his life writing and talking about a dominating sporting culture that involves 22 men kicking a ball.
He started his journalism career on the traditional front with Ipoh Echo, before making the jump the online journalism working for a plethora of online sports site. He was part of the team that launched the Malaysian edition of Goal.com – arguably the largest football news website in the world. Currently, he is the Chief Editor of the Malaysian-based sports website FourthOfficial. Com, and he’s also a weekly football pundit on Malaysia’s only independent radio station, BFM 89.9. When he’s not reading or writing about sports, you‘ll find him teaching debates and judging in debate tournaments across the Klang Valley.
Julya Oui
Being an author and screenwriter Julya Oui believes in keeping monsters, having nightmares, and dreaming up words that defy logic.
While Mother Nature inspire her, mind-bending curiosity motivates her.
Julya lives in a place known as City of Everlasting Peace aka Taiping where she spends time gardening, dotting her fur kids, and communicating with the characters from her stories.
She will read from the triptych of terror, Here There Everywhere.
