Talentime

Who dare say art and literary is boring?

For the last event of the year, we at Sharpened Word want to let our audience and supporters have a go and showcase their talents to all. Reminiscent of Yasmin Ahmad's movie "Talentime" which was shot at SM Anderson, adjacent to our usual venue, we have adopted the same name for our November outing.

Here are some basic rules and regulations so that we can keep the house in order despite letting your hair loose:

Sharpened Word Talentime 2017 is open to the public. All gender and talents are welcome. Minimum age 12 years. Youngsters below the age of 18 must have written parental consent.
Participants are required to pre-register, with full name, date of birth, hand-phone number and e-mail, and a short description of the performance.
Walk-in registration is possible but the cut-off time is at 1:30 pm. However, pre-registrations are given priority.
Sound test begins 2 hours (ie 12:00 pm) before the event. Contest starts at 2:00 pm.
Each participant is given 5-minute stage time only.
Participants who will be performing songs, dances or acts, are required to provide the organiser a thumb drive and CD with performance materials/background music etc. in mp3 format. They are also responsible to bring their own props, on approval by the organiser.
Participants are required to be punctual for the show. Late-coming and absence without valid reasons, at the discretion of the organiser, shall result in disqualification from the competition.
Group size - maximum a trio (3 persons)
There should be no foul/explicit content in the lyrics or performance. Inappropriate sexual gestures or movement are not advised and group outfits must be age appropriate.
Voting-system: attendees to purchase tokens and place them on the provided board to vote for their favourite contestant.
Final decisions are discreet, final and irrevocable. The organiser reserves the right to deny performances that do not comply with the required regulations.
